What closes a business is rarely the damage. It is the stopping.

A leaking roof can be repaired in two weeks. Two weeks of lost revenue often cannot be recovered at all.

Three risks business owners most often overlook

Business interruption

Cover for revenue lost while operations are halted by an insured event. For many businesses it is worth more than the physical damage itself. Salaries continue, rent is still billed, customers move elsewhere, and nothing comes in.

Third-party legal liability

Cover if your business is held responsible for injury or loss suffered by a customer, supplier or anyone else at your premises. Routinely skipped by smaller businesses until the first incident actually happens.

Customers' goods

Relevant to workshops, laundries, storage, salons and any service business holding other people's property. Customers' goods that are damaged or lost are generally not covered by an ordinary property policy, because they are not yours.

What follows is a summary written for general understanding. The benefits, annual limits, waiting periods and exclusions that actually bind are those in the Policy and the official illustration issued by Allianz, and cover is always subject to underwriting.

How we would build your cover

  1. Asset inventory. Buildings, machinery, equipment, stock and operational vehicles, each with its replacement value.
  2. Location risk mapping. Flood history, seismic zone, density of surrounding buildings, and fire service access.
  3. Interruption impact. How long the business could survive without revenue, and what fixed costs continue during that time.
  4. Liability exposure. How much your business interacts with the public and handles property belonging to others.
  5. Structuring and quotation. For larger risks, a quotation through the Allianz Utama risk assessment process.

For businesses with assets above a few billion rupiah, an on-site risk survey is generally required before a quotation can be issued. It adds time, but the result is usually a more accurately priced premium and better-matched cover.

For foreign-owned businesses

If your company is a PMA or has foreign shareholders, bring the deed and business licence to the first meeting. Ownership structure occasionally affects how a policy is issued and in whose name, and it is simpler to establish that at the start than to correct it later.
